Film Maker Christopher Hawkins speaks to us about his new documentary ‘The World at Arm’s Length: A deafblind adventurer.’
The film follows Sven, who is nearly 50 but he has long dreamed of walking the Camino de Santiago.
Sven was born deaf and became completely blind 10 years ago.
Sven will not relent until he finishes the Camino and he is adamant that he won’t wait for anyone while he is doing it. Neither camera nor Assistants will hold him back.
It’s a bold statement perhaps as much to himself as to us.
Christopher Hawkins, born in the UK, once enjoyed cycling through the Chiltern Hills near where he grew up.
In 2010 he moved to Germany and has since been tempted into the naughty eating and drinking habits of Cologne.
His career began in publishing and he has worked in media production for more than twenty years.
Starting work as an English copywriter for Conker Tree Film, he trained and developed into a Documentary Film director and Producer.
